Resume Scrutiny

Every once in a while, we get one or two odd resume which contains information that are not so relevant or a resume wherein the grammar is way off thus projecting a different kind of meaning. This website actually focuses on the unusual and different kinds of resume and other recruitment-related topics which shows a different light in recruitment.

Let me share with you a favorite of mine:

"Herbert A. Millington
Chair - Search Committee
412A Clarkson Hall, Whitson University
College Hill, MA 34109

Dear Professor Millington,

Thank you for your letter of March 16. After careful consideration, I
regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me
an assistant professor position in your department.

This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually
large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field
of candidates, it is impossible for me to accept all refusals.

Despite Whitson's outstanding qualifications and previous experience in
rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at
this time. Therefore, I will assume the position of assistant professor
in your department this August. I look forward to seeing you then.

Best of luck in rejecting future applicants.

Sincerely,
Chris L. Jensen"

You will need to construct a résumé at some point in your life, whether

applying for an internship or a full-time job. A well-designed résumé

will help you:

* Initiate contact with a potential employer.

* Communicate your relevant qualifications and strengths.

* Provide information to personal and professional contacts who will

write letters of recommendation or make phone calls on your behalf.

* Demonstrate your ability to write well, pay attention to detail, and

present information in an organized and concise manner.

Thanks

Resume Scrutiny is an area which needs serious attention in the coming times as the level of fake resumes is increasing a lot in market these days. So, HR Managers need to be extra vigilant.

Any organization that employs people can benefit financially from a staffing partnership.

Resumes only became customary after World War II, as a means for employers to eliminate unqualified candidates among scores of GIs looking for new jobs. Not much has changed. Nowadays, nearly every individual, starting a job search, begins by developing a resume, but decision makers only spend and average of ten seconds scanning them. A resume cannot do the heavy lifting in a job search. Its purpose is strictly to function, in conjunction with a follow-up call, as a marketing tool to initiate a conversation with the decision maker. Your goal should be to present your background and accomplishments in a visually appealing, reverse chronological order, with dates, succinctly and honestly. Stay away from functional resumes, extensive formatting and leaving dates off to hide age.
