
As a recruiter, taking notes when interviewing is a vital part of the job and in order to be an effective recruiter, you have to find a way to incoroprate taking notes and active listening. Yes, just like in your schooldays.
Of course, using a tape recorder could be an option when doing an interview but personally, I think that this shows your inability to follow the phase. One of the things which I am practicing in my line of work is knowing the important things to write like their answers to specific questions and their emotions or feelings during the interview. Facts like their educational background and work experience could be found on their resume but the reason behind some things are not found there.
This is also the reason why the company's interview sheet should have a large amount of space in order to write down the important things. Of course, if you feel that your company should revise your interview sheet, well that's another topic altogether.
