Interview Preparations

Being an applicant is a difficult thing and being a first-time applicant means double the difficulty level. Though that is the case, being informed about the things to expect during the interview could make a great difference in that interview experience.

Some people do not even practice a sense of "preparedness" when having that job interview because they feel that they could nail it just with their presence. This kind of attitude is the reason why these kind of people don't get the job in the first place. Believe me, being prepared is essential in every job interview. Here are the things which you have to take note of in a job interview:

a. Being on time
b. Knowing the contact person's name
c. Exact location of the place
d. Proper clothing for the interview
e. A little research about the job and company
f. A "shakehand"
g. Respect

If you got all these things, the chances of you being hired would be higher or even if you don't get hired, at least you gave the right and proper impression.

Absolutely correct! All of these tips are great. Even if you do know the name and can recite company history, professional appearance is key to giving that critical first impression. Men and women should always look the part they are applying for. If you look serious and professional, then those giving the interview will take you seriously. In a recent article published in the Providence Journal discusses how men in particular are choosing to “dress up” more frequently.

More importantly, details can give a lasting impression; like having extra resumes, or making sure your hair looks just right, or making sure your shoes have a perfect shine can really make all the difference in an interview. In fact, when it comes to shined shoes, people often forget the importance and visibility of shoes. My company recently conducted a survey and 7 in 10 professionals agree people who dress professionally are more likely to earn a higher salary.

To make shining shoes a little easier, my company created a brand new portable shoe polisher called Shine to Go (ShinetoGo.com). It’s designed to help professionals maintain a professional look, whenever and where ever it’s needed. After all, what’s the point of wearing an amazing looking outfit, if the shoes won’t help you impress when it matters most.
