Uhmmm.. Uhmmmm...
This is the usual word fillers that I hear during interviews. Hearing it for just a short period of time is ok but hearing it all the time is really becoming irritating. Believe me, these word fillers are not doing any credit to you in terms of getting the job.
As much as possible, try to eradicate long pauses during interviews and make sure that you answer each question as honestly as possible. Aside from that, long pauses would also lead to lead to a longer interview period thus creating an uncomfortable situation. In this way, the interview would be more pleasant and less strenuous to conduct.
One thing which I could suggest to applicants is to prepare themselves for the possible questions that could be asked during an interview. Being caught off guard is one of the factors which causes long pauses during interviews. If you take time in preparing for your upcoming interview, the better the outcome of that interview.
