Thanks to a tip from the monthly Utah CTO Forum, I am using Jungle Disk now to not only backup and store my files, but to share them across the many computers that I have.
- My wife and I can finally get immediate access to the pictures we offload the digital camera.
- I can backup important files, knowing they're encrypted and secure.
- I can get ready to blitz my laptop and reinstall Windows so it might actually work again.
More immediately, for a group of distant recruiters, this could be a great way to syncronize and share resumes, contracts, etc, between users/branches without an incredible expense.
To accomplish this sharing, I use Jungle Disk and Amazon's new S3 file storage service (which creates a Web DAV folder for me to use). Then, I am using Novell's Netdrive, as discussed in the forums to map a drive-letter to the web drive. Finally, I use Good Sync (by the maker's of Roboform, by favorite Password-management application) to sync certain files/folders. Good sync can be programmed to watch a folder for changes and update things in the background.
Let me know if you choose to use it!
