I just had the pleasure of paying out some significant cash to a great business partner who went out of her way to referr some good business to me.
While I don't necessarilly recommend waving money in front of someone to solicit their referrals, If your sourcers, recruiters, salespeople, business partners, or neighbors send business your way and you capitalize on it, you better pay up.
And rewards don't always have to be in the form of cash, either. How about giving an outstanding employee a Friday and Monday of their choosing off for no reason (as long as they are consecutive), and you don't dock them personal time or vacation for it.
Then, if you want to be a superstar, have them go on Hotwire or some other travel site and say, "Find where you want to go, and I'll pay for the hotel for two nights."
If anything else, It's good Karma, and I am sure it's good for the economy as well--somehow.
