
Here's the tale of a guy in Canada who started looking for work, but wondered why technology firms had such miserable recruiting practices.
They seem to assume that employees will flock to them and they need do nothing more than post an opening on a job board. Most do not acknowledge resume submissions in any way whatsoever.
Then he goes on to say that their town reports 1,000 job openings that HR people "just can't find people to fill them"
My opinion? What we have here is... a failure to communicate!

If recruiting were easy, we could never charge the fees we do.

If the right people just showed up at a company the day they needed them, we wouldn't have an industry.
All of these issues create a complicated mess that databases, search engines, networking events and business-cards will never solve, but person to person communication will.
Are you a recruiter and you can't make your placements? No matter how much you don't like to hear it, its simply, flatly, because you haven't talked to enough people.
Are you a job-seeker and you haven't been hired? No matter how much you don't like to hear it, its simply, flatly, because you haven't talked to enough people.
So, stop reading--get out and make something happen!
