Whenever people find out I am a recruiter, I get funny looks--sideways glances, or wrinkled-up noses.
People don't like recruiters, I am not sure why.
But, you need them in this economy for one very simple reason:
The Person You're Looking For Is Not Looking For You.
The right candidates are happily employed, completely content, and very well-paid. To get them to leave can't be done by a newspaper ad, an internet posting, fliers or signs... but that makes sense because they're not looking.
The distance between you and the right candidate can accurately be measured by the fee your recruiter is charging.
If your "right candidate" knocked on your door each time you needed them, recruiters would make no fee--it's as simple as that.

Being a complete third party to the Company /Recruiter relationship, I couldnt agree more!
