Wet Jello enters the online recruiting space with an innovative way of helping employers and employees introduce themselves.
By video.
This year's college graduates have had webcams on their computers since they were freshman in high school. More recently, their cell-phones have videocameras built right in as well. Wet Jello is trying to tap that market and put it to some use.
From Recruiting.com:
Wetjello is looking to shift the point of personal engagement in the recruiting lifecycle. On both sides of the fence.
Enabling candidates, employers and recruiters to brand their job, company or hiring manger in s short 30-60 second video clip.
I think this is a good start at something new and interesting in the job-search space. Companies looking to attract this younger crowd will definetly enjoy this tool.
I personally think that HireVue has a more "controlled" approach to this process (and one I think more, um, traditional companies will have more success with), I think Wet Jello is trying to access the "rogue" video side of the personal video market by actively "vlogging" and using video-egg to make posting uber-easy.
But then there's people posting themselves on YouTube and then blogging about it on their own...
