The Big Business & Technology Expo in Utah Valley has been going well yesterday and wrapping up today.
It was great to get in there and see the companies in the area, talk to new people, and see what technologies are out there!
I felt a little trapped as I went in, and had to wind my way through the maze of exhibitors at the beginning, but once I got to the expo floor, all was well...
Some interesting ones of note:
- CP80 Internet Channel Initiative -- A not-for-profit movement to get porn and adult materials restricted from port80 (the www port that your web-browser uses to access information) to another, speficied port. This means that, if they succeed, you would have the ability to block porn from your home by simply filtering everything on the "adult port" chosen.
- Eli Kirk continues to innovate, now providing remote meeting software called Huddle which is very sweet and cost-effective too... seems a lot cheaper than Webex or GoToMeeting.
- Secure Netwerks is going to town with VoIP -- I like that they're using Asterisk over Linux... sweeeet.
- Call Son Lee and the engineers over at IntelliSolve when you have an idea that needs to be developed.
- Media Rain is still kicking up sweet stuff
- Call Nate Hult at PrintSmart in Orem when you need copies, printing, etc.
- Call Glenda at Logo Promotions in American Fork when you're trying to do something a little extra-special for your clients. (email)
- Finally, it was very cool to see Provo Labs there, showing off Blastyx, BigIdeaPR, Business Jive, Funding Universe and their newest release: UtahMonitor.com, "a business news aggregator sprinkled with original content for the state of Utah."(#)
