'Recruitmax' Now 'Vurv Technology'

The HireAbility blog notes that RecruitMax (an applicant tracking software maker) has changed their name to 'Vurv Technologies', apparently to show their desire to capture a more-full spectrum of the talent-management marketplace:

The new name – which is a derivative of the word verve, meaning “a creative energy, talent, passion” – better describes the organization and its product suite that focuses on managing the entire employee lifecycle. It also further differentiates Vurv from its competitors in the rapidly growing market for workforce management software. (from company press release)

Truthfully, a visit to vurv.com does seem to give justice to their new vision and direction.  Though I know it's wistful marketing-speak, I still like the bold statement on the cover:

Formerly Recruitmax, Vurv Technology has a relentless passion for delivering world-class technology that helps top organizations find, develop and manage the workforce with unrivaled efficiency and success.

(Anybody who calls themselves 'relentless' unapologetically, professionally, and right on their homepage, gets my hat-tip.)

Interestingly, my company currently uses RecruitMax (its works well), although I am currently demo-ing some new software....

I used to use Recruitmax - it was effective for internal corporate recruiters - but my outside guys never got the hang of it - and in my opinion, was worthless as a sales tool.

Maybe our version was too specialized, but it was slow, prone to errors, too busy in its design, and hard to search.

My requirements for a sales tool are fast, searchable by every field, accepts word attachments allows geographical searches, and is easy to build call lists (RM failed miserably with their call list).

What else do you need?

Good comment, Jim. I agree that the version of RecruitMax we have (called 'RecruitMAX Web Edition', copyright 2001) is clunky and a little hard to get used to.

In my day-to-day recruiting life, I admit that without Google Desktop (which I have already blogged about being a reasonable tool to track applicants) and Outlook, I would be overwhelmed with trying to use RecruitMax to manage the information I am constantly consuming (and delivering).
