These days, I am all about simplifying our processes and helping our clients achieve the same or greater satisfaction with less headaches and costs on either end.
Half a year ago, I blogged about Reducing Transaction Costs in Recruiting where I learned (through feedback from other recruiters) that these transaction costs can not be fully reduced--or we would drive ourselves out of business.
The industry of recruiting exists because, in economic terms, talented people are a scarce commodity. Without that scarcity, there would be no need for our industry, or the fees we charge.
But can the process of working with recruiters and agencies, and the process of hiring itself be simplified, even streamlined? Absolutely.
So, enter Recruiting on Rails, what I call my personal mission to make life easier for me, my recruiters, my clients, and consultants. The name comes from the programming framework Ruby on Rails, which Wikipedia defines as a set of functions and objects, etc, that "strives for simplicity and allowing real-world applications to be developed in less code... and with a minimum of configuration."
Step One for me is: Defining Clear & Concise Rules of Engagement. Many of my clients are new to recruiting and our industry standards. How can I be sure everything is clear, transparent and understood up-front so that suprizes don't occur later to submarine a hard-earned relationship?
What steps can you think of?

Nice article. we need more of this type of stuff to help redefine the rules of business logic these days.
